Biafo Hisper (Snow Lake Trek)
Trek Itinerary:
Day 1: Islamabad
Arrive at Benazir Bhutto International airport Islamabad. Meet, assist & transfer to the hotel. AM at leisure. PM Islamabad city tour.
Our sightseeing tour will start from, Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian & National monument with a trip to Damn-e-Koh, to catch an eye bird view of the twin cities. Overnight at the hotel. (No meals).
Day 2: Islamabad – Skardu (8,200 ft / 2,500 m)
After breakfast transfer to Benazir Bhutto International airport Islamabad for flight to Skardu by PK-451 (Subject to weather flight). We will be on the most incredible commercial flight in the world taking us from Islamabad to Skardu while looking at the beautiful Nanga Parbat.
Pick up from Skardu airport by PK-451. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Skardu. (Breakfast only).
(If flight cancels then, we will drive via Karakuram Highway to reach Skardu on the way overnight stay). Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Next day drive to Skardu. (Breakfast only).
NOTE:- Confirmation of flight to/from Skardu is subject to weather on provisional bookings and confirmation of seat is expected one day before. Confirmation depends on previous backlog.
Day 3: Skardu (8,200 ft / 2,500 m)
Free day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 4: Skardu – Askoli (10,800 ft / 3,300 m)
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Askoli in jeeps with pack lunch.It takes about (5 or 6 hours) from   Skardu to Askoli. Askoli is the last village of Shigar Valley on the way to Baltoro trek. The drive through the Braldu (narrow valley) is guaranteed to knock your socks off! Overnight and meals in the tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 5: Askoli – Namla (11,800 ft / 3,650 m)
After breakfast start trek to Namla.
This is the 1st day on the trek, from here onwards we shall be accompanied by a porters to the end of the trek. This will take about 7 to 8 hours. Lunch will be on the way to Namla. The walk from Askoli to Namla is on an easy soft plain first and then turns into tricky as we reach to the muzzle of Biafo Glacier. Overnight and meals in the tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 6: Namla – Mongo (12,130 ft / 3,700 m) 
After breakfast proceed for the 2nd day of the trek.
This will take 7 hours or more. This is not an easy walk as the trek is on rocks most of the time. Overnight and meals in the tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) Picture by “Judith”
Day 7: Mongo – Biantha (13,120 ft / 4,000 m)
After breakfast proceed to next camp.
From Mongo we get on to the white Biafo Glacier where the walking is easier and then we walk on the Biafo to reach its other end (Biantha). The difficult parts here are getting on/off to the glacier. This takes about 6 to 7 hours of walking and someone can view Latok peaks. Campsite will be set in a green meadow. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 8: Biantha (13,120 ft / 4,000 m)
After breakfast we shall have a rest day.
Here as it’s important to have good rest before getting on the altitude at later stage. Wash up, relax, read, climb on a steep edge for marvelous views behind the camp that can be very prolific to get oneself familiarized, sing and dance with the porters will build up to enjoy the nature. Overnight and meals in the tents. Day 9: Biantha (13,120 ft / 4,000 m)
Free time day to walk around and enjoy the nature. Overnight and meals in the tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 10: Biantha – Marphogoro (14,430 ft / 4,400 m)
After a rest day we shall continue for a quite difficult 6 to 8 hours trek.
Getting on to the glacier is challenging. Walk is in a straight line ahead on the white glacier by avoiding crevasses here. The greenery of Biantha campsite is only a memory now. We are in the striking and overwhelming area of the Biafo with its uneven summit. The Ogre (7,813 m.) towers high above us on our right. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 11: Marphogoro – Snow Lake (15,750 ft / 4,800 m)
After breakfast proceed for day trek rather difficult and bit challenging.
The trek takes about 6 to 7 hours over ice and snow. Once again be careful to avoid crevasses along the way. Snow Lake is a supernatural place. Get out of the tent to witness the stars in the night. It is a memorable experience. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 12: Snow Lake – Hispar La (16,895 ft / 5,150 m)
After breakfast another challenging day is awaiting.
To a certain extent the highlight of the trek. 6 to 7 hours walk on slope of about 30 degrees takes us to the top of the pass. Once again, be careful to avoid crevasses. From the top of the pass we see a panorama explained by an early adventurer: “Beyond all evaluation the best view of mountains it has been my lot to take a look at.” On one side the Biafo lies and on the other side we look towards the Hispar Glacier and peaks above Hunza valley. The view of sunrise from the pass is another sight to take a look at. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 13: Hispar La – Khani Basa (14,760 ft / 4,500 m)
After breakfast leaving again for a nice a relatively hard day ahead.
This is a long day walk more than 8 hours. Make sure that we leave the pass early before the snow becomes soft. On the way down, once again, we are careful to stay away from crevasses. We will have to cross the Khani Basa Glacier before we can camp on a green campsite, which is a welcome scene and spot after being on snow for the last few days. On the way we can witness the well-known Kanjut Sar (7,760 m.) towering high on top of the Khani Basa Glacier. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 14: Khani Basa – Yutmoro/Jutmal (13,780 ft / 4,200 m)
After breakfast proceed towards Yutmoro/Jutmal for the next camp.
This will take about 7 hours and on the way we will cross the Yutmoro Glacier. After crossing it, another hindrance that we countenance is to mount up on a loose rock face. Once up the face, we now enter a beautiful campsite with lovely views across the Hispar Glacier. Some streams have to be crossed on the way. Overnight and meals in the camp. Day 15: Yutmoro/Jutmal
Breakfast in the camp. Rest day at Jutmal. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 16: Jutmal – Shiqam bares/Baghdurbeg Gut delum.
After breakfast again start trek from Jutmal to Shiqam bares by walking on a rocky trail. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 17: Shiqam bares/Baghdurbeg Gut delum – Bitanmal (11,800 ft / 3,600 m)
After breakfast move on this trek which takes about 7 to 8 hours.
On the way cross Pumory Glacier and a stream. The crossing of Pumory is not that difficult as of Jutmal. Then after once again, we have to move down on to the ablation valley and once again we have to climb the cliffs on our right to get to the campsite. Overnight and meals in the camp. Day 18: Bitanmal – Hispar Village (11,150 ft / 3,400 m)
Breakfast in the camp.
The last day of the beautiful trek will come to the end when we reach Hispar Village. Another short day of about 4 hours. Cross some streams on the way, but the walking is relatively mild. Cross the bridge over the Hispar stream and then ascend on a good path brings us into the village. Overnight and meals in the camp. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Day 19: Hispar – Karimabad (8,000 ft / 2,440 m)
Breakfast in the camp.
After last camp breakfast we shall proceed for Karimabad on 4 x 4 Willy Jeeps. Our 4 x 4 Willy jeeps will transfer us to Karimabad. The first view of this lush green valley surrounded with huge snow caped mountains will remain an impression on our minds for a long time. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 20: Karimabad – Besham
After breakfast we shall proceed to Besham via Karakuram Highway for overnight stay. (Breakfast only).
Day 21: Besham – Islamabad
Breakfast at the hotel.
We shall proceed for Islamabad. Upon arrival transfer to hotel, PM at Leisure. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 22: Islamabad
Transfer to Benazir International airport Islamabad for your home bound flight.
(Breakfast only).
NOTE: Unpredictable weather during the trek extra one day may be adjusted in Karimabad or wait for good weather to cross the Snow Lake.
