FAIRY MEADOWS-RAMA LAKE & SKARDU TREK

Islamabad-Chilas-Tato-Fairy Meadows-Nanga Parbat Base Camp-Rama-Skardu-Shigar-Islamabad
Trek Itinerary:
Day 01: Islamabad
Arrive at Benazir Bhutto International airport Islamabad. Meet, assist & transfer to the hotel. AM at leisure. PM Islamabad city tour.
Our sightseeing tour will start from, Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian & National monument with a trip to Damn-e-Koh, to catch an eye bird view of the twin cities. Overnight at the hotel. (No meals).
Day 02: Islamabad – Chilas
After breakfast drive to Chilas.
Chilas was on the ancient caravan track over the Babusar Pass into India and on the Indus trail of Besham, and many rock engravings/impressions were left by travelers in this area. Chilas is standing under the shadow of world famous Killer mountain Nanga Parbat. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 03: Chilas – Tato – Fairy Meadows
After breakfast drive up to Raikot Bridge then 4×4 Willy jeeps drive up to Tato & Trek to Fairy Meadows.
The sharp and difficult slope on a rocky track will lead us to a small settlement of Tato which is comprised of a small number of soil lofts scattered around. This village is colonized by the straight and fierce yet but very hospitable. The established base camp of Nanga Parbat, known as Fairy Meadows. The local people think that this stunning place is a residence of fairies and ghosts. The lush green plateau presents some of the most spectacular sights one can ever witness. Overnight in Huts/Tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 04: Fairy Meadows
Full Day leisure at Fairy Meadows. Overnight in Huts/Tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 05: Nanga Parbat Base Camp Excursion
After breakfast proceed to Nanga Parbat base camp excursion.
This huge mountain is not a single peak but a series of ridge conclude an ice summit 8,125 meters high – ranked 9th highest in the world and 2nd in Pakistan after K-2. Early disasters on Nanga Parbat gave it the nick name Killer Mountain or Mangeur D ‘Homme. Twelve climbers and 18 sherpas had died there by 1937. The monster was finally conquered in 1953 by the German Expedition. Overnight in Huts/Tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 06: Fairy Meadows – Tato – Rama Lake
After breakfast walk down to Tato village then we shall take Jeep drive to Raikot Bridge, and again change jeeps to Rama Astor Valley.
Rama is 6 km above Astore, at about 3150m. While going up to Rama the green rising and falling fields, knee-deep in flowers in July, purple clover, geraniums, mint and thyme, blue cornflowers and several verities of orchid. Rama Lake (3482m) is about 2 KM from the hotel. It is a very beautiful lake and having great views around. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 07: Rama Lake
Full day at leisure at Rama. Overnight in the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 08: Rama – Skardu via Deosai Plains
After breakfast drive to Skardu via Deosai Plains.
This day is fairly longer day as we shall be crossing the Deosai Plateau, a treeless wilderness at 4,000m. We will have our pack lunch at Bara Pani, where we shall cross a suspension Bridge with our jeeps. Deosai Plateau is now a National Park where we have more then 40 Brown Bear, which were disappearing some years back but with the help of WWF and Government of Pakistan now the number is increasing year by year. This is the highest plateau in the world which is 300 square meters long and 4000m above see level. After descending we will be crossing and over viewing the beautiful Lake Satpara. Overnight and meals in the Hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 09: Skardu
After breakfast, full day to explore the Skardu Bazaar and its surroundings. At a height of 2500 meters, Skardu is an inspiring landscape of high mountains, deep gorges, desert, pouring waterfalls, creeping glaciers and quiet lakes. Skardu is in the heart of a dangerous frontier land. To its north lies the Xinjiang province of China; to the south Kashmir, to the West Gilgit, and to the east the district of Ladakh in India. Skardu is the trekkers and mountain climbers’ paradise. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel.
Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 10: Skardu – Shigar
Breakfast at the hotel.
We shall proceed to Shigar for half day tour, Explore local area. The fort at Shigar has been completely renovated by (Aga Khan Cultural Services Pakistan) and is an genuine example of Balti architecture. A visit to the two storey mosque is well worth while and a relaxing walk around the town. South of the village there are rock carvings of Ibex, and Buddhist Stupas, Ruins of a Buddhist monastery have recently been excavated. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 11: Shigar – Skardu – Islamabad
After breakfast transfer to Skardu airport for flight to Islamabad by PK-452 (Subject to weather flight). OR PM at leisure in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
(Incase of flight cancellation drive to Besham via Karakuram Highway, upon arrival transfer to the Hotel). (Breakfast only).
NOTE:- Confirmation of flight to/from Skardu is subject to weather on provisional bookings and confirmation of seat is expected one day before. Confirmation depends on previous backlog.
Day 12: Islamabad
After breakfast full day excursion to Taxila OR Drive to Islamabad via Taxila. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 13: Islamabad
Morning transfer to Benazir Bhutto International airport for your return home bound flight. (Breakfast only).
